Private Pilot Certificate Flight Training
Van Nuys Flight School Flying Lessons
The Private Pilot Certificate permits holders to fly a wide variety of aircraft and to carry passengers (not for hire) virtually anywhere. Regulations allow you to share the flight expenses with your passengers (equal shares) to help pay for trips.
On your vacation, you can rent aircraft in other states or foreign countries to explore new areas. Many countries in Europe for example have flying clubs where you can rent US registered aircraft.
Requirements:
A basic medical certificate and read and speak the English language adequately. You need to be at least 16 years old to obtain a student pilot certificate, although you may start training earlier. You must be 17 years of age to be certified as a Private Pilot. Applicants need to meet standards in three separate areas to qualify for FAA pilot certificates: Flight experience (measured in hours), Flight skill (measured by a FAA examiner with the help of a booklet called the PTS (practical test standards), and theoretical understanding which is measured via a written (computer test) multiple choice exam and an oral exam before and during your flight test.
Flight Experience: An applicant for the Private Pilot certificate must have a minimum of 40 hours flight time: A minimum of 20 hours dual and a minimum of 10 hours solo. However, it is normal for most students to require more time, and Private Pilot training nationally averages over 70 hours. The California Flight School Private Pilot syllabus is specially designed to help the student achieve the training goals in 50 to 60 hours--30 to 40 hours dual and 10 solo.
